That's the best kind of relationship. Gruffly affectionate but honest, no? Or, maybe that's just my thinking ....
I've been reading PK for years* (although I admit to taking about 6 months off when my life was falling apart back in 2007 and when 'someone' went a little wild on the sporty talk for a wee bit). I was initially enamored by the way Sparkles' managed to be honest (even crass) but STILL come across as a person who must actually care about (certain) things and people. I think (in my life anyway; and forgive the excessive bracketing) it’s really quite rare to come across intelligence, brilliant writing (or expressiveness), honesty and humanity. People are often stupid and nice - or brilliant but ruthless - or inarticulate but smart - or blah blah blah. You can do the permutations, but you know what I mean, right?
Then one day I realized it wasn't just Sparkles writing (sorry, Kmart, Denz and TMH:) but a bunch of bright and funny and rude characters who were using anonymity and the internet in the way it should be used: to give information (movies and music and even - gak - sports), to alleviate person stress, to pass time - but who didn't take it (or themselves) too seriously. That last part is important, IMO.
So then I was hooked! I love Kmart's writing, I love Sparkles' writing and I wish you would make more podcasts. I'm sorry to say I never listened to any of them before, but I'd like to.
(Afterthought): I just don’t understand why more people in Korea don’t read you guys (and gals – again, sorry Kmart)!
*I can say that since 2010 is almost here!

I don't want to be the only person who comments here but who is Nancy Lang? And you guys should should really put a masthead on the side over there and designate Kmart as the High Lord of the Comment Box, or something like that (but funnier).

That's a really detailed response for a Nancy Lang post...
ReplyDeleteI mean, I'm sure Sparkles is flattered by the compliments but seriously, Nancy fucking Lang?
